Health Services for Palestinian Children NZ

We are a charity that helps children in Gaza and the West Bank access life-saving healthcare and emergency humanitarian relief.

Meet Dr. Alan & Hazel Kerr

“For nearly 20 years, we’ve been bringing hope and healing to children in Gaza and the West Bank through life-saving cardiac surgery and emergency humanitarian relief.”

Our Mission

We are an independent, secular, apolitical New Zealand charity dedicated to providing healthcare to children in the occupied territories of Israel.

Founded in 2006 as the Palestine Children's Relief Fund (NZ), we've recently renamed to Health Services for Palestinian Children (NZ) to avoid confusion with the US-based organization with which we are no longer associated.

Our Impact

Nearly 800 lives saved through New Zealand paediatric cardiac surgical team visits, providing critical care for children with congenital heart disease.

Over 1,000 families sheltered through our recent emergency response. $100,000 in donations, largely resulting from the documentary film about our work, have paid for steel-framed, insulated and durable tents now providing shelter for over 1,000 displaced people through the harsh Gaza winter.

Our Story

At 91 years old, our founder Alan continues to lead this vital mission.

Our work has been captured in the award-winning documentary "The Doctor's Wife," directed by Paula Whetu Jones, currently showing at community venues around Aotearoa. Our surgical team stands ready to return to Palestine as soon as the situation allows.
